October 31st - Happy Hallows' Eve

A word to sum up our Halloween? super FUN! Okay maybe two words, but we had such a FUN night that us parents didn't want it to end. **I wonder how many times I can use the word FUN in one post** Saige definitely puts the FUN and excitement back in our holidays.

To start the night off we took our little candy corn witch to the mall for their annual Halloween treat trail. It was absolute mayhem and all 3 of us had perma-grins going on. Saige hit up half the stores and still came out with a bag full of candy and other goodies. Interestingly she wouldn't part with her pumpkin sack for anything, must've seen mommy and daddy eyeing up all her loot. Trev and I were both shocked that she kept her "princess" hat on the whole evening and even adjusted it from time to time. We had practiced trick-or-treating at home a couple times, but to see her in action was melt-your-heart adorbale especially when she followed it with "thank you".

We met up with Caleb and his posse (aka Becs and Darrell) at Baba's house for some actually door knocking and the candy corn cousins could not have been any cuter. Caleb being the older and faster of the two seemed to take the lead and Saige would run after him yelling, "Cal'ub wait me, wait me!"
For a two year old who's only allowed maybe a candy a week, Saige had a pretty good haul. She even scored a few full-size chocolate bars for her folks - atta girl. In true Grandma and Grandpa Knol fashion they spoiled our spoiled toddler with candy and a zuzu pet and a tube of mini-play doh's.

That freaky looking bunny (see above) was some sort of Halloween mascot for Telus and Saige went up to him open arms! I think she might have been the only kid out of 300 that gave the thing a hug - such an odd child. An older boy who saw Saige walking up to the crazed rabbit asked his mom in a panic "what's she doing, what's she doing?!" haha

Caleb is hilarious. He was on a mission to fill his sack and no one was slowing him down. He'd get to the door, grab his candy and be off to the next house yelling "thank you!" Meanwhile our Saiger visited with each homeowners, would negotiate for more treats and in some cases would even walk right in! She actually sat down in our neighbour's living room and proceeded to watch tv. I didn't see it, but Becs and Trevor had tears they were laughing so hard. We were like, "sorry about that, would you like us to come in and collect our kid?" ridiculous.

After some homemade pizza and a switcheroo into warmer clothes, we headed up to the fire hall to watch Saige's first fireworks display. She didn't know what to make of it at first - "don't like it, don't like it" - but she came around and at the end was "oohing" and "ahhing" like the rest of us.
We closed the evening with a thorough teeth cleaning and by 9 p.m. it was lights out for everyone.

Like I said, such a FUN night.
