mirror, mirror.

on the wall who's the palest of them all?

Being a redhead in the Okanagan means I spend minimal time in the sun and pretty much have to wear sunscreen 24/7 if I want to avoid being tomato face and/or one giant freckle all summer long. But that my friends is the extent of my beauty routine - unless you count taking Clean & Clear Face Wash into the shower with me for the past 10 years {something about its minty fresh smell & cool tingle}.
With my 29th birthday lurking around the corner like some creepy pervert, I've been spending an exorbitant amount of time reflecting on my reflection. I'm definitely giving the professional mirror looker in my family a run for her money and my skin & hair inventory has got me shouting, "damn girl!" but not in the good way.

** Excuse me but since when did I start sprouting a witch-like mole on the right side of my face?

** And where did all these forehead creases and inner eye wrinkles come from?

** And what's with these perma bags? I literally can't smile anymore without it looking like my eyes have packed enough luggage for an extended trip to Mexico. Note to Self: stop smiling.

The mirrors have convinced me that I need to start taking better care of myself before I morph into a ginger version of Tara Reid - minus her petite frame & fake boobies - and that's where you come in...

I'm turning to my wise followers with the following S.O.S.

I need your best kept beauty secrets
and I need them STAT!
30 waits for nobody.

If you have any beauty inspired posts or ageless advice it's time to dish. Before April 10th I need to adopt a new my first ever beauty regime. Father Time's hands have been cruel and I need to put the brakes on getting old ASAP!! So...

what's your nighttime skin routine?

what are your can't-live-without beauty products?

how much water do you drink in a day {and how do you remember to keep hydrated}?

are there any foods I should avoid or consume?

do you take any vitamins or sip any morning concoction?

got any DIY facial recipes or hair masks that contain ingredients like egg, avocado, olive oil?

I can't wait to read - and ultimately test - all the things that keep you looking youthful & beautiful.

You are so funny I just love you. Ummm....sleep is a good one but kinda doesn't happen with kids. Have lime to add to your water so it does not taste so much like...well...water. Hit the gym...and botox. Thats all I got. Your beautiful by the way :D

okay I lied...primer before any kind of make up. By the way I am so pale that when my friend Jessie the make up artist did my make up she didn't even have foundation light enough for me.

Confession...I spend a lot of my day attempting not to move my face...smiling is the worst...omg

Awe, Sara I feel for ya...I was just doing the exact same thing the other day, looking at myself "make-upless" and thinking good lord what the h$#* has happened to me...hahahaha. Just think of them as presents from the kiddies..lol. The only thing that is my absolute must have that works wonders on bags and dark circles under the eyes is Mary Kay Soothing Eye Gel...plus I add crystal light to my water so its not so boring and I am alot more likely to drink it. And moisturizer morning and night. Good luck...if you come across any good tips, pass them on :)

Not sure where you are getting the forehead wrinkle thing from! My biggest secret about my skin is sleep! I really think its the best thing to keep the face youthful and rejuvinated. But I know that isn't always the best option with super busy schedules so I resort to anything and everything ahava! My favorite is the mud mask and I highly recommend it!

the sad part is I'm always without make-up. I do heart Crystal Light and what moisturizer do you use?

I've got the permanent dark circles happening here, boo! Genetics suck sometimes. ;) My mother in law gave me a sample size of her fabulous $150 potion that you're supposed to put on in place of moisturizer, and I'm HOOKED! But seriously, I refuse to spend that kind of dough on face cream!!! I am thinking that money could be put towards an ensuite upgrade! :)

I use a Mary Kay moisturizer, they have one for oily skin and one for normal-dry...its a little pricey (though I could get it half price for you) but its worth it...a little literally goes along way. I'm about to venture into their anti-aging line...ouch, did I just say that...ahhh...lol so old

$150? holy smokers! I agree that's a lot of money to spend when there's so many more fun things out there to purchase.

I got a facial the other day and the girl told me it adds like 7 years to your face each night you don't wash it. In that case my face is like 45,000 years old. But seriously...now I wash it.

Ok I really relate to this. I never wear makeup unless I'm going somewhere with grownups or having a meeting or something but I do have some tips! Boots Protect and Perfect Serum, it's amazing. About $30 and so worth it. I use dove bar soap, then that serum, then Olay night cream and I have found it helps. I however have the darkest most horrifying under eye circles and have never been able to fix them.

Also, I just bought this stuff by Garnier called Beauty Balm, you just smooth it on like lotion but it has a tint, looks really fresh and natural and takes less than a minute. I usually top that with a little powder if Ben isn't freaking out by this point. It was $20 I think, not bad! And I do love mascara, I feel like it makes me look about 40% less awful.

I'm with you in the pale thing, I'm a ghost, but lucky for us tanning is pretty lame now, he he.

If I was supposed to figure this all out before turning 30, I'm about two years too late. My "beauty routine" consists of thanking my mother for good skin genes, staying out of the sun as much as possible and always wearing sunscreen and a hat when I'm in (which does nothing to help my pale complexion), and beating myself up for never drinking enough (read: any) water.
