This is shaping up to be one embarrassing week and it's only Wednesday...

- I'm starting to regret my earlier decision to boycott The Bachelorette. Thanks to all those crazy Monday night tweeters the Emily Maynard updates have been forced upon me in droves (without the accompanying eye candy I might add). I should probably just give up on fighting the good fight, but between you and me I can't stomach the gurl. I get that Emily's hot and all, but was she not A LOT boring with a smidge of annoying on Brad's lame-o season? Clearly the show's producers didn't agree with my assessment and cast her for 10 episodes of must-NOT-see TV.

- I'm not sure who, but someone in our neighbourhood has nicknamed their wireless internet connection 'wecanhearyouhavingsex'. Even though I KNOW this is not directed towards us - parents of a baby, who share a room with said baby - I'm worried that there's an off-chance we're getting unwanted credit for another neighbour's lovemaking. I'm tempted to rename our own connection in hopes of clearing our we're-only-passionate-about-sleep name... 'thepeopleinthebeigehousedonthavesextheyhavekids'.

- I may have offended some "50 Shades of Grey" fans with my comments on Facebook the other day and while I apologize for coming across as judgey (never my intention or place) the feminist, social worker and mother in me can't retract my words. I haven't read the book - and I don't intend to - so my thoughts on the series come from a place of ignorance but also conviction. I realize it's just fiction, but unfortunately I've worked with far too many abuse victims to consider dominance, sadism or bondage anything but disgusting.

- I'm pretty sure I should delete the above confession, but I won't because it took me a solid 11 minutes to draft.

- Writing blog posts - or anything for that matter (except emails, those I produce at lightning speed) - takes me FOREVER. Too long really. Sometimes I think keeping a private journal tucked under my mattress would be an easier alternative. I wouldn't have to worry about my words sounding bitchy or ungrateful or judgmental; it would be quick and dirty and not nearly as satisfying.

- Saige was the only kid who refused to collect her certificate and crown from yesterday's preschool ceremony. It's not the first time she put her foot down in a very public place, but I still haven't come up with an appropriate way of dealing with it. I just stood there with Gabe and my camera in hand waiting for her to change her mind (which she didn't). Let's just say it was an uncomfortable 60 seconds for myself and all the other parents in the room. I could feel their eyes willing me to 'do something', but I didn't know what? put my bigger foot down? man handle her? convince her in my sweetest voice possible? I'm pretty sure I came across looking indifferent which is the exact opposite of who I am. I mean I start debates over books I haven't even read the back cover of.
the room was empty at this point
- I bought Fruit Loops. Don't get me wrong I'm not above giving Saige sugar, just not for breakfast. Sweet treats have always been saved for after lunch, but when missy walked passed a box of "rainbow Cheerios" she nearly lost her mind. How could I resist? I rationalized the purchase as a congratulatory cereal for her big week - swimming, soccer, preschool and playgroup all coming to an end. I felt nothing but shame as Saige walked up and down the Wal-mart aisles proudly carrying her bright red box of cavities.

Okay don't leave me hanging, link up with E or Alyx and start dishing your dirt...

Confession #2 has made my day. I'm forwarding this to my hubby... he'll appreciate it. LOL. I have an equally fabulous neighbor story that I now want to post but I wouldn't be able to do the accent justice in a blog post. And the accent really makes the story. ;)

Don't worry ~ I think the S&M community is insulted by Fifty Shades, too. It is Harlequin-romance-watered-down-kinda-light bondage-sex. It's a lot more "love making" than you might think. I've seen a few interesting internet connections in my neighborhood... "StupidAss, Getyourown, F**kOff". Apparently my boring "Kori" says a lot about my creativity. Congrats to Saige!! Brynn has her "graduation" on Friday, and Bridgit's is next Wed. Hoping to avoid the awkward sixty seconds...

LOVE the neighbors' wireless!! And now I'm really curious about your controversy-causing 50 Shades comment.

LOL at your neighbor's wifi! Too funny. I guess my generic one that it came with is lame with a capitol L! :)

lol ok all confessions today...AWESOME! I found Emily boring on Brad's season too but she's not so boring on this one. As for fifty shades of gray, I don't plan on reading it either. Its just not the type of book I like to read plus I have a million parenting books waiting for me on my night stand....as soon as I finish the encyclopedia of steve jobs' life I will get to those.

Bravo! This post is hilarious and wonderful in every way. First of all, your quandry with the neighbor's network name made me laugh out loud a little... Also, I couldn't agree more about 50 Shades of Grey. Sometimes, our society is just a little bit sick and it bothers me. I can't get on bandwagons as easily as most people, and I'm still putting my foot down about the Bachelorette.

I laughed out loud at the neighbor's wireless name. That just kills me! I loved this post and your writing style. :)

Oh my HILARIOUS, that WiFi confession. Frickin' riot.

P.S. Who cares if others get their panties in a wad over your opinion...you deserve to have it even if it's different than theirs. You go girl!

even if I take a summer blog break, I don`t think I`ll be able stay away for long and I won`t stop reading (and commenting) on my faves like Potluck Pollock ;)

I just need to figure out how... can you believe it took me an entire night to install google analytics and I still don`t know what it`s even for or how to use it... did you do your newish blog design - question mark... I had to type that out cause my keyboard is giving me this... É instead of the proper punctuation following a question. hmmmm

I read blogs, not books. Although my library finds aren`t half bad... I`ve learned how to discipline Saige without blowing my lid.

ours is like Network 3000 or something which makes us sound like trekkies (ew, we SO aren`t). Ya Bridgey & Brynnie!!! I`m 100% certain your beautiful children are WAAAY more well behaved than my Saigers. You need to get a blog ASAP - I would read every word, Scout`s honor

Sara K {SaigeWisdom} said...

You`re not the first person to tell me that... I don`t know, I think I`ll stick with my Emily Griffin novels, they appeal to the prude in me ;)

Sara K {SaigeWisdom} said...

you can`t leave me hanging like that!! you should do a vlog post! and show off that beautiful house of yours while you`re at it.

Haha the WiFi thing is pretty funny! Also, I'm very over Emily...I think there are many other girls they could/should have picked. Found you through Sunday confessions :)

Confession: I have labia majoras of steel willpower when it comes to the bachelor. I will not watch that show. However I subject my brain to Jersey Shore and I'm fairly certain that my eyeballs have skin cancer from all that fake tanning going on up in there.
And I think that is the best wireless name.
Today I ate Lucky Charms. I also own a box or 3 of Trix because they were on sale and I'm convinced that they are really nutritous for me...I mean my kid because the box said it's made with whole grains.
And your child is so adorable.

One of my favorite things about living in the city is seeing what hilarious things people name their wireless routers. My street includes "Guty el Stripper" and "MUCHOGRASSYASS".

Alyx said...

Haha, I'd love to know what you said about 50 shades of grey, because I probably agree with everything you said about it.
Anyway. I once had a neighbor with that exact same wifi network name, and it just weirded me out!!
Thanks for linking up!!

kimberly rae said...

lmao at the wifi name!! & also your proposal to change yours! what if you just started a trend and then slowly the whole neighborhood started renaming? lol!

also, i DID read 50 shades, just because i give into peer pressure and i totally was not into it. i just dont find anything appealing about a man controlling my life...or trying to. its true in the book the main character sort of bucks the whole dominance thing and is not willing to do it, but the main guy is still a totally controlling, overbearing, fourletterword! lol! i think women confuse jealousy and control for someone loving them and it's just not ok! ok. off soapbox now! im glad you didnt delete that confession! it's your opinion!!

Hey, Froot Loops are an excellent source of iron. When my daughter was iron deficient and a very, very, very picky eater we went through a ton of them. And, no, she does not have a mouth full of cavities!
