halloween costume reveal...

Any excuse to play dress up...
and I'm in.

Seriously - unless your name is Lady Gaga - you can't possibly love a costume party more than this redhead and if you do... well then we must team up and co-host the most epic October 31st bash imaginable. One that'll put Mrs. Limestone to shame {what I wouldn't give to be invited to her annual Halloween extravaganza}.

Like any good costume lover, I'm a BIG fan of Hallow's Eve... PG-13 style that is - you know the non-scary, non-slutty version.

Aside from a pumpkin belly, paper bag princess and ladybug tutu, I've yet to make any of our family's Halloween costumes and I'm not about to start.
So this year us Knol's are going as...

The above trick-or-treating attire had some pretty stiff 2012 competition. Below are the costume ideas that didn't quite make the cut...
Maybe next year.

Our mini-Superman will spend a few moments in the pumpkin suit for a front porch photo opp circa Saige 2009 {see above}. Gabriel's other costume options included:
a) TinTin
b) an Oompa Loompa
c) a vagabond

Unlike his super awesome wife *blush*, Mr. Knol isn't too big on dressing up. I think either of these tees would act as a suitable compromise:
d) hello my name is... the guy who hates Halloween costumes
e) I'm okay. *I'm thinking Trev-bob may have to wear this to the one & only costume party we've been invited to this year - Sproulefest!!

Next Halloween I'm going to beg & plead with our little unibrow to go as:
g) Frida Kahlo or
h) Salma Hayek acting as 'Frida Kahlo'

Waldo was the clear winner for me - an opportunity to dress up AND wear stripes - SOLD... but I did get a good chuckle from these Pinterest pins:
f) old skool school photos
i) crazy cat lady - although it's not really that funny anymore seeing how the crazy cat lady across the street has stolen our cat and turned him against us with her Fancy Feast dinners. Come home Hobbes, we miss you.

Speaking of cats what are you & your cute little kittens going as this year?

I couldn't be closer to your opposite. I hate wearing costumes. I don't have the budget to buy the girls costumes and I'm not crafty enough to make them myself. Maybe things will change when the gals are in school and actually care. Though, the Frida Kahlo idea is right after my own heart. As soon as the girls were born, I decided that at some point, they must dress up like the twins in the Diane Arbus photo that was the basis for the creepy twins in The Shining. It's probably just the art history major in me.

Luke is going as a monkey because 1) I scored the costume at Old Navy for less than $4 last year And 2) we lovingly refer to him as our "monkey meat." I would love to dress up in a robe, slippers & curlers (so comfy, right?!) and have John dress up in a suit, mic and giant check; we would be the publishers clearing house winner/check giver!!! Too bad we have no cool parties to go to and use said costume :(

Olivia is going as a black widow bride (had to have the black veil) :) And Jakers is going as Frankenstein if I can convince him. I scored the costume on the buy and sell for cheap and it is warm...however he is wanting to be Spiderman... the costume is a bit thin for a night out. Hopefully he can be Spiderman by day and Frannkenjake by night :)

Your costumes are always fabulous and the fact that you can get Trevor dressed up is wicked...I am going as plain ol' mom. I never seem to have the time to find myself something. Look forward to all your photos of the Halloween festivities.

Well funny you should ask, because my little girl is going as a kitty! She loves her stuffed kitty, so her mind was blown when she got to dress up as one (trying it on yesterday). My mother bought my son a ridiculously expensive doctor costume and kit, so that he could pretend to be the kitty's vet. Poor kid just wants to put a sheet over his head and be a ghost...

I LOVE the school photos costume. That background... For several years in a row I was given the wrong background for my school photos, and eventually my parents stopped complaining, so I have some odd school photos. Do you remember the one that made it look like you were in a house, with a lamp? Had it.

$4???... and I thought I was a deal finder.
we totally call Gabe a 'monkey' - I wonder if that's a parents of boys thing?
you need to host your own Halloween party with a costume idea like that!

a black veil - ooooh Olivia and Jacob as Frankenstein = too cute!
Trev knows it's pointless to argue with me - I keep throwing the 'we have to make memories for the kids' line at him.

LOVE this comment - I totally snorted in approval.
Your kids having costumes that 'go' together - kitty & vet - KILLS ME. I love that sh*t.
