thus far {pt. 2}.

Sunday, October 21, 2012

The weekend warriors have been making great progress on the new "wing" {I feel so fancy calling it that}, but with snow in the forecast and some heavy trusses to heave, we've recruited 2 new soldiers to help with our Saturday/Sunday renovations. BIG shout out to Byron & Sean for being all around awesome {and strong}.

I'll be posting a tour of our extended main level real soon, but here's a little reminder of where things were at back in August...
you can see the full post here

And this is how far we've come...
The boys are in the process of sheeting the new roof while I figure out what to make 4 cold & hungry men for lunch... maybe a Wendy's run? ;)

All I can say is thank G-O-D for Instagram otherwise I'd have zero photos of the progress or our sweet little helpers...
Aside from a torrential downpour (or two), gale force winds and an injured baby toe, it's been smooth sailing so far - knock on wood.

I feel a bit like a widow with Trev-bob working 'round the clock, but we'll have plenty of time to cuddle once that master bedroom is complete. Have I mentioned lately that I'm so over room sharing with Sir Screech-A-Lot? {also known as Gabriel Arthur}. I'm going to shamefully admit that our 1 year old is still not sleeping through the night and with me going back to work soon this is no bueno.

Now all you parents with good babies, here's your chance to brag. Go ahead and tell me that your 3 month old has given you 12 straight hours of sleep since birth. I'm so happy for you, truly I am {insert eye daggers}.

It's coming along so nicely, and your kiddos are just insanely cute "helping". :)

I'll commisserate with you on the bad sleepers. H didn't sleep through the night until he was 18 months old and even then it was only once in a while. At almost 3, he is still in our bed a lot of the time - total survival mode....because at least he sleeps through the night in our bed! I hope G starts sleeping better soon!

All looks fantastic, kiddos and toes included. Very exciting...!

As for me - I ripped out our upstairs bathroom TWO years ago and there it sits...still a vastly empty and hollow shell of what once was. :( Not fun with three kids clamouring for MY sink...:((....all of which have given me a fair helping of (mega) sleep deprivation.

That's my attempt at making you feel better. Did it work....at all? Or do I just sound like it's all about me? LOL ;)

Kale is almost two and a half and doesn't sleep through the night in his own bed. If he's in with us - he doesn't make a peep. But on his own? Up every two-three hours. TWO AND A HALF. Not months, YEARS.

The renovations look amazing! Its so wonderful that you have so many volunteers to help you. The hubby and I are hoping to convert our garage into living space starting next spring, but who knows. I know its going to be a huge endeavor! Especially with a new baby due in December, haha. Oooh, I noticed you put a button up for my website! Thank you so much. ^_~ I am very excited for the giveaway!

It kind of blows my mind to see pictures of Gabe standing and walking around. Why do I always forget that other kids grow at the same rate as my own??

PS I cannot wait for before/after pics of the COMPLETED project! You are getting closer and closer...

you guys have come so, so far! I wish we could do something like this. Instead we're just going to have to start adding tents to the backyard for each additional family member that comes along.

thanks Morgan! I keep making excuses for his poor sleep habits - he's teething, he's hungry, he heard us, etc. I went to a 'sleep consultant' presentation yesterday and got some good tips - I'll keep ya posted. xo

definitely makes me feel better - I love hearing from fellow zombies ;) xo

Kale can do no wrong in my eyes.
When I visited my grandparents as a kid I'd sleep in between them and continued to do this until I was 15!!!! true story #notproud. Their bed wasn't even comfortable... they were 2 of those electric hospital beds pushed together and I slept in the crack next to my denture -ess gram & gramps.

Don't worry Randalin! My two and a half year olds don't sleep through the night, either. The combo of toddler beds and potty training has made it worse. Most nights Clarissa wakes up about three hours after going to sleep, goes to the bathroom, then requires a pile of blankets on her floor to sleep on. You are not alone!

I can't decide if I'd rather have that addition on my house or my very own, extremely adorable Gabe!

I came back to read your response and saw the one below this. Now I feel the need to tell you, since we're talking Grandparents...I slept with my Grandma 'til I was FOURTEEN,COMPLETELY INTERTWINED... but only on weekends...*blush.

I gotta say I have no regrets...she's 82 now and I'd give anything to go back... ;0)

I can't believe how awesome (and fast - or is that just blog time cause I get to sit on my couch and observe) the addition is coming along. I'm super excited for your own bedroom back, I don't know how on earth YOU are sleeping with that kiddo in your room. We kicked Alice out at one month she was so flippin' noisy.

a garage conversion - you must do it.
I'm beyond excited for November's giveaways and your wee one's late 2012 arrival ;)

don't worry Gabe walking around blows my mind too.

do you remember when I was first toying with the idea of an addition and now it's like 1/3 complete? it feels a bit surreal. I guess I should clean up the house and take some before pics before it's too late :P xo

365 of backyard camping? if it involves s'mores I'm in. One night Saige and I slept outside in the travel trailer (in our driveway) it was actually kinda fun 'play camping'.

Sara K {SaigeWisdom} said...

oh Sandra you can HAVE him! haha

to be honest I'm a bit surprised on how quickly things have be progressing - those Dutch boys of mine know how to get 'er done ;)

oh my goodness my bedtime routine is H-E-double hockey sticks... I haven't been able to read in bed for months for fear of waking Gabe, I even get mad when Trev tosses & turns in his sleep cause the rustle of blankets sometimes disturbs Prince G. I can't take much more... I have visions of moving him into our walk-in closet ;)

how exciting for you!! good luck with your addition. You will be happy with those photos when you look back at all the work accomplished!! we ran out of room completely with my 8th child and built a new house in 7months. I look back at those picture now and do not even know how we did it...
And when I did had that 3 mo old baby that slept through the night, I also did not even know that kind of normal feeling existed!!'
good luck with everything going on.
I am your newest follower..pls follow back if you can.

We hope to! I don't know how we are going to fit everyone into our 600 sq foot house, haha. XD

I think he wants to come out now, lol! I was having really painful contractions the other night that woke me up out of a dead sleep. O.O
